It started in third Grade…

My dad was a young teacher when he bought a portable carpet-cleaning machine to help support his growing family. He started taking me along with him on jobs, hauling water and pulling hoses. Heck, he even let me name the company. I named it H & H Carpet Cleaning because I was so proud to be a part of it with him. (My nine-year-old self thought I was pretty hot stuff back then!)

Over the years he taught me a lot about carpet cleaning, but even more, he taught me the value of hard work, treating others with kindness, and doing things the right way—even when it’s not the easiest way.

When I got older, I followed in my dad’s footsteps and became a teacher. I spent 25 years teaching special education and eventually started a family of my own.

And through it all, I never stopped cleaning carpets.

In January 2019, I retired from teaching and started running H & H Carpet Cleaning full-time with my wife, Laurie. As an owner/operators, we’re the ones doing the work. And now I get to take our kids along on jobs, just like my dad did with me. We’re truly a family business. I love working alongside them, and hopefully they’re learning a little about small business—and a lot about life.
